Abstract
This paper explores the integration of gamification into citation instruction in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classroom, focusing on the use of reference management tools (RMTs) such as Zotero, Mendeley, and Citation Machine. It argues that gamified citation tasks can reduce cognitive load, foster motivation, and promote academic integrity among EFL learners. Drawing on recent empirical studies and classroom-tested models, the paper presents a pedagogically grounded framework for enhancing scholarly literacies through playful, interactive learning.
