Normative Aspects of Translation

Abstract

The paper discloses normative notions under which the chosen translation strategies are actually governed by a number of factors that influence the translation process; they include the translation purpose, the client, readership expectations, and specific language norms. The basic tenet of the analysis is that normative aspects of translation are largely predetermined by functional styles and their conventional peculiarities.
