SPECIFIC FEATURES OF DISCOURSE IN MODERN LINGUISTICS

Abstract

The paper examines discourse as a multilevel and multidimensional phenomenon that integrates structural, pragmatic, cognitive, and sociocultural aspects. It highlights key features — coherence, interactivity, contextuality, and pragmatic orientation — showing that discourse shapes both communication and social relations. The study links discourse to ideology and power and notes its strategic role in media and professional communication. Overall, discourse is seen as a central mechanism of meaning-making and cultural transformation in modern linguistics.
